Welcome to the website of the Northern Cemetery. This website brings together information from many different research sources to offer you a unique view of one of New Zealand's most interesting cemeteries.
This website was set up by the Southern Heritage Trust which has its base in the Sextons Cottage where it maintains an information centre and provides help to visitors to the cemetery.
The cemetery remembers many of Dunedin's and New Zealand's early settlers and founding residents, such as:
- Entrepreneur and politician William Larnach
- Entrepreneur and brewer Charles Speight
- Poet, legislator and journalist Thomas Bracken
- Acclaimed architect Robert Lawson
