Euphemia McMillan McKinlay(1856 – 1925)

Euphemia McMillan Marquis was born on 2 December 1856 in Greenock, Scotland and died on 26 September 1925 at 189 Leith Street, Dunedin.

She sailed from Greenock for New Zealand on 6 June 1874 and arrived at Port Chalmers on the ship “Canterbury” on 5 September 1874. Landfall was at Christchurch on 2 September and she was recorded on the ship’s passenger list as Euph McMARQUIS.

She married Robert McKinlay on 7 November 1879. They had four daughters and two sons, one of whom was W. Ernest McKinlay, a well known NZ tenor in the 1920’s and 1930’s who died at Sydney in 1945.
