Peter Gibson (1835-1882)

Peter Gibson was born 7. 09. 1835 in Edinburgh, Scotland. He was the son of James Gibson (b. 1801), Dyer of Ayrshire, Scotland and Marion Simpson (b. 19.11.1802), Crichton, Midlothian, Scotland. James and Marion were married on 13th November 1825 and Peter was their fourth child.

Peter married Margaret Forsyth in Edinburgh on 20.02.1860. He was a butcher by trade, having a shop in Great King Street Dunedin. Peter, Margaret and infant son James Gibson sailed from Glasgow on the 1st June 1861 aboard the Pladda landing in Dunedin, Otago 98 days later. The family settled in Dunedin and had 11 Children - James, Ebenezer, Mary Aitcheson, Peter, Georgina, Jessie, John, William, Margaret Forsyth, Isabella and Glorianna Forsyth Gibson.
