William Abraham Newman’s family was quite a large one. They had a business making elaborate plaster ceilings – the Bank of New Zealand was one of those – the headquarters building of Wm Abraham Newman and Sons still being there in Hyde Street. A decoration in the two-storied building has the date 1879. The business also supplied plaster ceilings all round New Zealand. William was married to Annie McCarthy. |
