ISABELLA WILSON ( nee SMITH) 1796 – 1879

Isabella was the daughter of Andrew Smith who was a tanner in Banffshire who employed a number of men to make leather brogues, a laceup shoe which most people wore in those days. The brogues were packed in creels on horses and donkeys and taken to fairs which were the great emporiums of trade in those days and sometimes lasted five or six weeks. Such was the Marnoch (Marnon ) Faire near Aberchirder.

Isobella died at Dunedin on the sixth of September, 1879 aged eighty-three.
