Jane Elizabeth Wilson was the wife of Logan Wilson. They were married at St Paul’s Church, Dunedin, on 24 December 1882. Logan gave his occupation as bootmaker.

Jane’s parents were Elizabeth Keates (nee Mills?) and Timothy Keates, stonemason?

Logan’s parents were John Wilson, a carpenter and Jane Wison (nee Patton). Logan was born in Victoria, Australia, and his parent’s, John and Jane, sailed from Argylshire in 1853 for Victoria with three children (who had all been born in Argyl). More children were born in Victoria , including Logan. The family then came on to New Zealand, Jane coming with most of the children on the ‘Gen’ in 1862, John arriving separately. After they arrived in Dunedin more children were born.

Jane and Logan had a number of children, one of whom was called Logan Ernest Wilson. When he was born on 3 August 1888, in George Street, his father gave his occupation as a chimneysweep. School records show that Logan and Jane and family lived about opposite Knox Church in George Street, Dunedin.

The one year old baby in the grave with Jane would have been her last child, Mildred. It is believed that the Timothy Keates, also in the grave with Jane is either her brother or father.

Jane Elizabeth Wilson died of pneumonia 29 April 1899 in George Street, Dunedin. Logan did not remarry but died in Hokitika in 1931.
