MAITLAND, ANN

Ann Hazel Maitland, née Clunn, was the only child of Charles Septimus Clunn of Birchinton, Kent, and was the stepdaughter of Robert Williams. She arrived with her family in 1848 (by this time with her stepfather) on the Bernicia. She married James Pillans Maitland, Commissioner of Crown Lands, in 1855. They had a family of five sons and four daughters, of whom a son, James Ernest Maitland, and a daughter, Mary Stuart Maitland, predeceased their parents. Ann Maitland died on 27th January 1901, aged 66 years. She is buried here in the cemetery with her husband, son and daughter. Susan Thomson |
