Jessie Steven Jessie Steven was born Jessie Davidson in Banchory, Kincardineshire, Scotland on 11 March 1850. Jessie emigrated to New Zealand with her parents, Robert and Mary Davidson, and siblings on the “James Nicol Fleming” arriving at Port Chalmers from Greenock in October 1870. Jessie married William Steven at Riverton in June 1871, before moving to Dunedin where William was employed as a Tailor. Jessie and William lived in Woodhaugh, Dunedin, raising a family of nine children. Jessie is buried with her husband William and their son John who died at the age of 18. |
