Selena Piplow Storer (1871-1889)

Bathing and sailing were popular recreational activities in the late 1800’s. The remoteness of the beaches and the fact that many people were unable to swim meant that accidents were common. The location of Hooper’s Inlet on the Otago Peninsular, away from Dunedin City, claimed the lives of both Annie and Lena Storer who drowned on the same day – February 14th 1889.
