Herbert Ernest Parsons (1882 – 1917)

Ernie Parsons was born in 1882, son of Mary and Harry Cramond Parsons.

In 1908 at the age of 26 years, at Orakanui he married Ida May Smith. They had four children, Mavis Margaret Mary, Ethel May, Ida and Earnest. Ernie, as he was known, had a bag-cleaning business. He also “showed” fowls and bantams, and bred staghounds for deer hunting.

Herbert Ernest Parsons was only 35 years old when he died after a lingering illness on the 23rd June 1917 at Matakanui.

Also buried at the Northern Cemetery in the same plot with Ida and Herbert (Ernie) are Ernie’s parents, Mary Cramond Parsons, who died on March 1st 1908, and Harry Cramond Parsons, who died on January 2nd 1910.
